Four Decades at the Nigerian Bar
Chukwuma Ekomaru was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. In the four decades since, he has practised continuously — appearing in matters across every level of the Nigerian court system, from Magistrate Courts and Customary Courts through the High Courts, Court of Appeal, and to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. The breadth of that practice has given him a depth of pattern recognition that is not replicable in any other way: the ability to read how a matter will develop, where pressure points lie, and what preparation is required at each level.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria designation was conferred following independent review by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee. The review assessed the quality of briefs and written submissions, the complexity and importance of matters handled, the standard of advocacy in court, and the standing of the practitioner within the legal profession. The SAN designation is held by fewer than one percent of Nigerian lawyers. It is the highest formal recognition of professional standing in Nigerian legal practice.
Chukwuma Ekomaru SAN founded the firm with the intention that it would operate at the top level of Nigerian legal practice — not merely processing matters but preparing them with the rigour that the most demanding circumstances require. That standard has been maintained across four decades and across all the areas the firm practises. It is the constant against which every brief is measured.
The firm's presence in both Abuja and Owerri reflects the national character of Chukwuma Ekomaru's practice. Federal court matters, regulatory proceedings, and constitutional challenges are handled from the Abuja office at the seat of the federal government. The Owerri office serves south-east Nigeria, Imo State proceedings, and clients across that region who require SAN-led representation.
